Recruitment privacy notice

This notice explains what Lakeland Security Group ("LSG", "we") does with the personal information you give us when you apply for employment or to work with us as a subcontractor. It applies alongside our privacy policy.

Who is responsible for your information

Lakeland Security Group is the data controller. You can reach us through the contact page or at quotes@lsgsecurity.co.uk.

What we collect

When you apply through the website or by email we ask for your name, your phone number and email address, your postcode, the type of SIA licence you hold and its number, whether you have the right to work in the UK, when you are available, and a message about your experience and the work you want. If you apply as a subcontractor or a security business, we later ask for your UTR and confirmation of your insurance.

We do not ask for documents at the application stage. Do not send us scans of your licence, your passport, your CV or any other document by email or through the website; if you do, we will delete them.

Why we collect it

• Your contact details, so we can get back to you about your application.
• Your SIA licence type and number, to confirm that you can work in a licensed security role. We may check the number against the Security Industry Authority's public register.
• Whether you have the right to work in the UK, so we know whether we could employ you. We do not ask for proof at this stage; proof is checked at onboarding, as the law requires.
• Your postcode and availability, to see whether the work we have fits where you are and when you can work.

Our lawful basis is that these are steps you have asked us to take before we might enter into a contract with you, and our legitimate interest in recruiting suitable, licensed people. Checking your right to work at onboarding is a legal obligation.

Who sees it

Applications are read by the people who run LSG and are responsible for recruitment. The companies that process your information on our behalf are:

• Resend, the email delivery service that passes your application from the website to us. Resend processes data in the United States under its standard contractual terms.
• Microsoft 365, where our email and files are held.
• TacDesk, the workforce management system we use for staff records, licence tracking, training and compliance, which your details are entered into if your application goes ahead.
• Cascade UK, which built, hosts and maintains this website and acts on our instructions. A record that an application was submitted is kept on the web server; Cascade UK does not read applications.

How long we keep it

If your application does not go ahead, we keep it for six months after we tell you, in case a suitable role comes up or you ask us about our decision, and then delete it. If you join us, your application becomes part of your staff record and is kept for the length of your time with us and for as long afterwards as the law and our insurers require.

Decisions

Decisions about your application are made by people, not by automated means.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, object to our using it, and withdraw your application at any time. Contact us using the details above. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change this notice we will update the date at the top of this page.
